Why we built Gestoa
Every athlete has drills. Every language learner has Duolingo. Public speakers have… what, exactly? Videos teach you how. Human coaches cost $300/hour. And neither one tells you whether you actually improved.
We built Gestoa because vague feedback doesn't create progress — numbers do. The goal: give every professional the structured, evidence-based practice system that used to require an expensive human coach and a lot of scheduling.
Grounded in published frameworks
Gestoa's six skill areas and four levels aren't invented — they're a compression of frameworks that already define what good speaking is:
A research-based decomposition of speaking into independently measurable components. Gestoa's six areas map directly to it, compressed for practical training.
Used as the benchmark for Gestoa's L4 Mastery level descriptors.
Adapted into Gestoa's four-level system (L1–L4) to make level-ups AI-measurable rather than human-judged.
The distinction Gestoa adds: every level threshold is a number, not a judgment. Advancement from L2 to L3 requires filler words below 2/minute in 3 consecutive sessions — not a mentor's sign-off.
No voice recordings. Only your numbers.
You should be able to practise your most vulnerable moments without them living in a database somewhere.
This isn't just a feature — it's a structural choice: MediaPipe running in-browser for face-landmark detection, audio transcribed and immediately discarded, and only numerical metrics and text feedback stored. GDPR Article 9 compliant by design.
We made this choice before a single enterprise customer asked for it.
