Why we built Gestoa
Every athlete has drills. Every language learner has Duolingo. Public speakers have… what, exactly? Videos teach you how. Human coaches cost €100 an hour. And neither one tells you whether you actually improved.
We built Gestoa because vague feedback doesn't create progress — numbers do. The goal: give every professional the structured, evidence-based practice system.
Grounded in published frameworks
Gestoa builds on established frameworks — while adapting them for measurable AI-powered speaking assessment:
The National Communication Association’s evaluation framework for public speaking. Gestoa fully measures one of its eight competencies (physical behaviours), partially measures five more, and leaves two out of scope.
Used widely in higher education. Gestoa fully covers three of its five dimensions — Organization, Central Message, and Delivery — and partially covers Language.
Used as a precedent for staged progression. Its levels are curriculum stages, not proficiency bands, and Gestoa does not use them as a measurement scale.
Gestoa's levels are internal to Gestoa: not a rubric score, not a language-proficiency band, not a qualification.
No audio or video is ever stored
You should be able to practise your most vulnerable moments without them living in a database somewhere.
This isn’t just a feature — it’s a design choice from the start.
MediaPipe runs in your browser for face-landmark detection. Your speech is transcribed, the audio is discarded, and only numerical metrics, text feedback, and your transcript are stored. Because face analysis stays on your device, no biometric data reaches Gestoa. Your transcript is kept for 12 months, then deleted.

What Gestoa adds is numeric, measurable progression: every level has a defined threshold, and you move up only when your numbers hold across 3 sessions in a row, rather than relying on a mentor’s judgment.
Because you should be able to practise your most vulnerable moments without them ending up in a database.
Gestoa processes your camera input in the browser and never uploads or stores the video. Your speech is transcribed, the audio is discarded, and Gestoa stores only numerical metrics, level history, text feedback, and your transcript.
Your transcript is kept for 12 months because it powers your progress tracking and personalised drills. After that, it is deleted or irreversibly anonymised.
We made this privacy-first design choice before any enterprise customer asked for it.

You can practise as often as you want — even at midnight before a morning pitch — and track how your speaking skills change over time.
Gestoa doesn’t replace a human coach. It gives you more measurable practice between coaching sessions, at a fraction of the cost.
Gestoa measures improvement using numeric thresholds, not mentor judgment. Each skill has a defined threshold, and you move up a level when your results meet that threshold across 3 sessions in a row.
Every third session uses a scenario Gestoa chooses, so you can’t progress simply by memorising and repeating the same talk.
There’s no mentor sign-off. Your measurements determine your progress, making it consistent, repeatable, and easy to track.

After that, Gestoa uses session packs, not a subscription:
