Your first impression is a skill. Practise it before it counts.

Gestoa measures how you come across in the moments that make or break an early career — the interview, your first presentation, the meeting where you finally speak up — and gives you a number.

Your work is good. Whether people see it depends on how you speak.

Early in a career, the gap between the people who get noticed and the people who get overlooked is rarely the work — it's the interview answer that rambles, the meeting comment that trails off, the first presentation where the nerves show. Those moments are trainable until they become instinct.

Structure & Clarity

Can a listener extract your point in the first 15 seconds? In an interview answer, structure is the difference between 'sharp' and 'all over the place'.

Confidence & Composure

What happens to your pace, fillers, and eye contact when a senior pushes back? The way you handle pressure often leaves a stronger impression than the answer itself.

Voice Delivery

Filler words above 8 per minute read as nervousness, no matter how good your answer is. Clear speech makes you sound confident.

Practise the moments your first five years turn on

Three situations that decide whether good work gets seen — each scored on a number, not a feeling.

Candidate

The behavioural interview answer (STAR)

What Gestoa measures

  • STAR structure detected: Situation, Task, Action, Result
  • Background kept under 40% of the answer
  • A concrete, quantified result at the close
Example AI feedback
Your Result landed well — closing on the 20% time saving is exactly what an interviewer remembers. But you reached what you actually did only in the final third; the rest was scene-setting.

Graduate or new hire

The research presentation to people who know more than you

What Gestoa measures

  • Thesis stated in the first 20 seconds
  • Jargon density against a general-audience baseline
  • Pace held in the 130–175 WPM band under nerves
Example AI feedback
You knew the material cold, and the section on your methodology showed it. But you opened with the method and never said what you found — the finding is the reason anyone is in the room.

The most junior person in the room

Speaking up when a senior disagrees with you

What Gestoa measures

  • Point made once, clearly, without over-qualifying
  • Pace delta at the pushback vs. your calm baseline
  • No hedging spike — "just", "sorry", "I might be wrong"
Example AI feedback
You made the point, then apologised for it — "sorry, I might be wrong, but" came before the only original idea in the meeting. Say it once, and stop talking.

Online meetings are harder to win.

Online, people are easier to distract and harder to read, so your delivery matters even more. Gestoa helps you master both environments.

In person

In person

You walk into the room, shake hands, and connect from the first minute. You can see reactions, adjust your pace, and know when your message is landing.

Online

Online

You're one face among many on a screen. It's harder to hold attention, read reactions, or build a connection, so your voice, pacing, and story matter even more.

Why online is harder

  • It's harder to keep people's attention. You can't tell if someone is checking another screen, or simply losing focus.
  • You get fewer signals from your audience. Small cues like eye contact, body language, or a change in expression are easy to miss, making it harder to know when to explain more—or stop talking.
  • Your delivery matters more. Without the energy of being in the room, your voice, pacing, gestures, and storytelling have to create the connection.

Scenario spotlight: the interview answer

Behavioural Interview Answer — STAR (2–3 min)

Skills coached: Structure & Clarity and Confidence & Composure, weighted most heavily; all 6 scored.

Setup

You're given a common behavioural prompt — "Tell me about a time you handled a conflict" — and 60 seconds to think. You answer as you would in the room. Gestoa listens for the STAR shape and the moment you actually reach what you did.

What it evaluates

  • STAR structure detected: Situation, Task, Action, Result
  • Background (Situation + Task) kept under 40% of the answer
  • Pace and filler rate hold steady through the Action section
  • A concrete, quantified Result at the close
Example AI feedback
Your Result landed well — closing on the 20% time saving is exactly what an interviewer remembers. But the answer front-loaded the setup: most of it was Situation and Task before you reached what you actually did, and your filler rate climbed while you were still scene-setting. Trim the background and get to the Action sooner. Run the STAR Trim drill.
